(Media1=Harlow) The Opening Ceremony of the World Cinema Week took place at the Cinematheque in Seoul In the evening of December 6 2016. Ambassadors and diplomats from the Diplomatic Corp and other guests attended that event, where films from Bolivia, India, Bangladesh, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Czech Republic, Norway, France, UK, Angola, Ecuador and Peru will be displayed.
The Bolivian film "Boquerón" directed by Sergio Antezana, subtitled in Korean, was exhibited on Wednesday, December 7, as a part of this cinema festival. This film is about the war between Bolivia and Paraguay in 1932 to 1935 and shows how Bolivian soldiers defended a spot called Fortin Boqueron. In that spot, Paraguay army was bigger in number and equipment, but the Bolivian soldiers resisted for several weeks, without food and without good weapons. Many times Paraguay soldiers tried to attack them and take that spot, but Bolivian soldiers with a lot of courage resisted the attacks.
This year, the Embassy of Bolivia promoted several cultural activities. Among them, it brought to Seoul the first Bolivian Film translated into Korean. Upon a request from the organizers who quoted the emotional response from the Korean public, the Bolivian film "Boquerón" will be shown at the Cinematheque again on Sunday, December 11, at 4:30 p.m. Hall 2, B1F.
For this occasion, the Embassy is pleased to invite the audience in general to enjoy the Bolivian movie whose director Sergio Antezana is an outstanding professional, leading the new Bolivian film directors.
