(Media1=Sara Grant) Grand Hyatt Tokyo will host its “Sparkle with Joy” charity program from 9 November to 25 December, featuring various activities designed to support people with disabilities as well as children in regions such as Tohoku, Kumamoto and Hokkaido, which were hit by devastating earthquakes and a tsunami.Since March 2011, Grand Hyatt Tokyo has strived to support the communities affected by these catastrophic disasters through monetary donations, charitable contributions and volunteering efforts.

As of January 2018, a total of more than JPY 59.8 million has been donated, and the hotel hopes to continue increasing the amount each year. The theme for this holiday season is “Sparkle with Joy”.With the support of Kids Earth Fund, our goal is to bring hope and happiness and see children’s faces sparkle with joy during this special time of the year, not only to those affected in the Tohoku and Kumamoto regions but also other areas such as in Hokkaido, which were devastated by natural disasters this year.

‘Grand Hyatt Tokyo works with ReKikou,a non-profit organization that recycles wine and Champagne corks into new products, helping generate employment and supporting independence for people with disabilities.Corks recycled from the hotel are used by Re Kikou to make cork ornaments, and the revenue is donated to charity. This year, in addition to the cork ornaments, in commemoration of the hotel’s 15th anniversary, eight tiles (starting from 2011) with images of children’s paintings from Kids Earth Fund made with recycled cork will be offered. All proceeds from the sales of these ornaments and tile collections will be donated to the Kids Earth Fund.

Additionally, from 9 November to 25 December, a part of the lobby will be transformed into a sparkling holiday area that will reflect this year’s “Sparkle with Joy” theme. There will be 15 sparkling trees to symbolize the celebration of our 15-year anniversary, and the trees will be decorated with Re Kikou’s recycled cork ornaments, which will be available for purchase in all hotel restaurants, with 100% of the revenue being donated to support the children of KEF.

The hotel will also have a SNS program allowing guests to post photos on social media along with the program’s hashtag to help raise awareness of the charity program. The total number of photos posted will be multiplied by JPY 100 and the resulting amount will be donated to KEF. Fiorentina Pastry Boutique will offer delightful holiday charity hampers filled with cork ornaments and seasonal delights such as the classic stollen, colorful Christmas cookies, dry strawberry chocolates, Trefin chocolates and amandine–perfect for seasonal gifting.

By purchasing the gift basket, guests will be making a charitable contribution that supports the employment of people with disabilities.Enjoy the holiday season at Grand Hyatt Tokyo this year and join us for“Sparkle with Joy,”an uplifting charity program that will help bring cheer during this season of giving.
